Is it just me, or could they have done a LOT better in the way this thing’s head looks? The most un-photogenic of my robots, Robopet works well in spite of his shaky and confidence draining spindly legs.
It walks with a peculiar gait; but it certainly does walk. Although the manual says that it will roll over and stand back up, so far all mine does is lay on its side, shake its legs like it was poisoned, and then stand back up. It sort of barks, making an eerie sound that is recognizable as a bark, but it isn’t particularly melodic.
If it sounds like I’m complaining, I’m not. The Robopet is a neat robot and another of WowWee’s family of offerings. He traverses carpet as well as a table top, sits, shakes a paw, and does other doggy things. He’s the smallest of my robots –well, he’s akin to the i-SOBOT in size. He comes with a remote and will also respond to Robodance. So he too can be added to my dance line when I want to do a gang robot operation.
Robopet came from an eBay auction and arrived, guess what? Broken. His legs had been subjected to side pressures as though a child had thump-walked it around with their hand roughly. I was able to ream out the pivots and, using the brass barrel of an ink pen, created little bushings. This tightened the legs back upĀ and brought my $25 acquisition to functional life.
