I refer to both WowWee’s Roboreptile and Roboraptor as Robolizards. I don’t mean anything by it, the name just seems to fit. They both have about the same capabilities and do the same things, they just look a little different. That’s why you will see this particular page repeated under each of the robot’s names. So if you’re feeling deja vu after reading about one or the other, that’s why.
I got my Robolizards from eBay, each in a separate auction. They both have the common hip displasia problem apparently common to RoboRaptor/Reptile robots from what I read on various forums and reviews. I gave the problem the designation of hip displasia because like a couple of wonderful dogs I had that suffered it, it affects their ability to walk.
Because it’s so common, I don’t feel bad that they’re both semi-disabled. As a disabled person myself, I kind of relate to them and hope they aren’t as uncomfortable about it as I am. At any rate, they still have an excellent bad attitude. As one of the ads I encountered said, here’s a robot that won’t simply notice your pets, but will attack them. Too true, too true.
Mine both do walk a little, their just a bit rickety at it. But that doesn’t stop them from rushing at people and animals they notice, ferociously snapping and roaring at them. I expect it from the little buggers, but I’m still startled when they do it to me. I love it!
The Raptor will play tug of war, the Reptile doesn’t demean himself so as to imitate a dog. He just sits around with his bad attitude and impresses the hell out of me. Watching them walk is highly reminiscent of a dinosaur. Their heads and tails wag back and forth in a very dino-like way. Carpet is their undoing, at least mine are. They can’t seem to get the foot motion needed to overcome the rug pile. But on a hard surface they can actually travel somewhat quickly, adding to the surprise if they charge at you.
Both of these guys rate highly on my Holy-Cow-o-Meter.
