Now We’re talking! Roboquad is a total fave of mine. From the whistles and beeps he uses to express himself to the way he moves and presents himself, this robot is an ace. He wanders in autonomous mode quite well, his crab-like legs dealing with obstacles a lot better than one would think.
This Robot has a discernible personality too. Not that the other WowWee robots don’t. But Roboquad’s personality shines through for me and I actually admire the little guy.
I let this guy roam my zone for hours at a time, looking to see what he’ll do. I do have to give him some kind of input every few minutes of he’ll go to sleep to conserve battery power. But I have literally had hours and hours of enjoyment from this robot.
I bought him on Amazon for around $70. I think I’ve spent half that much again on C cell batteries to make him go. It isn’t that he eats batteries, on the contrary, this little fella will squeeze every last joule from his power source and use it with tremendous efficiency. I’ve just used him and used him and used him.
This is one robot I have no real interest in hacking. Other WowWee robots seem to almost ask for it. But this guy came from the factory being, like the Army says, All It Can Be. It’s an Army of One. Some don’t cotton to it’s resemblance to a spider. I don’t think it looks all that spidery, I think he’s cute. I love the way he looks about when he scans, always looks where he is going, and he has a great facial expression. Perhaps that one reason his personality is so vivid to me.
