Someone somewhere asked for a robot that talked and here it is. This thing never shuts up. Then again, you don’t want it to. From the time you power it up and it proclaims “Never fear, Jobot is here” to when you shut it off, Joe will keep up the banter unrelentingly. He’s a scream to play with.
Like most of the WowWee robots, Joe is capable and hardy. He eschews a remote control in favor of accepting inputs via his hands. Like the Femisapien, Joebot’s “fingers” can be manipulated to create movements. He also responds to voice commands from a limited but useful set.
Also similar to the Femisapien, he can certainly walk but has a difficult time on carpets; the deeper the pile the worse off he is. So if every horizontal space in your home is carpeted, you probably want to get a Robosapien that will walk on almost anything.
Joe always makes his presence known. Even when he falls asleep after a few minutes of inactivity, he will snore loudly and encourage you to interact with him. If you want an interactive robot, here he is.
Personally, I think Joe is a reincarnation of the Femisapien more than the Robosapien. He shares a lot in common with her. But like the other WowWee robots, he responds to Robodance and can be manipulated by the Robosapien’s remote control. His moves, but for walking, don’t mimic the Robosapien and it can be interesting to press the Robosapien remote control buttons to see what he does. Some day I will have to plot out what each of those moves are. But for now, it gives an interesting dimension of surprise seeing just what he’ll do.
